Shea Wine Cellars Block 31 08 $55
Beautifully bright cherry marries fleshy plum, creating a layered, best-of-both-worlds Shea Pinot. The finish finds an ideal harmony of rich and spicy, with cinnamon and thyme accenting the awesome, creamy-textured Pinot fruit.
For fans of the previous Shea Pommard and Wadenswil Pinots (no longer made), Block 31 is a wine you’ll love. It’s a blend of 70% Pommard and 30% Wadenswil clones and we highly recommend it.
Arterberry Maresh Maresh Vineyard 08 $75

Arterberry Maresh Pinots are seamless and silky – the 2008 is bursting with succulent, mouthwatering, layered cherries, wild strawberries, with orange oil, cedar spice, brown sugar, black tea and huckleberry appearing on the finish. Tremendous Pinot sweetness gushes towards the end, ideally balanced by the 2008 dream-vintage acidity.
A veil of super-fine tannins helps the finish resound. 9 barrels were made (224 cases), mostly twice-filled barrels, aged for 16 months. Harvested October 26-30, the incredibly low yields – less than 1 ton/acre – ripened to perfection during cold, sunny days. The oldest blocks of Maresh Vineyard – the fifth oldest in the Willamette Valley are in this wine. Vine age ranges from 1970 to 1991.
Soter Vineyards Mineral Springs 07 $48
WOW. One of the most exciting 2007 Pinots we’ve tasted. Tony Soter ages his Mineral Springs an extra year before release and it shows.
Parker (The Wine Advocate) 92 points: “The 2007 Mineral Springs Ranch Pinot Noir is deeply colored with aromas of damp earth, roasted herbs, black cherry and black raspberry. On the palate, spice notes emerge along with savory black fruit flavors and enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years. It will be at its best from 2010 to 2019.”
